Job Role
We’re looking for an innovative, proactive and well organised Youth Lead (Networks & Opportunities) to join our team.

You will be building capacity of local organisations, facilitating collaborations and ensuring that volunteering opportunities in East Renfrewshire are inclusive and accessible to disadvantage young people.

Our youth-led programme ‘Make it Happen’ offers young people (12-25 years old) opportunities to grow in confidence, find opportunities to participate that are meaningful to them and develop lasting connections within their community through the mix of 1:1 intensive support, group volunteering, and volunteering programmes and workshops, with a focus on creating local collaborations that tap into existing resources and services. 

The programme is funded through the Young Start, a grants programme run by the National Lottery Community Fund.

Key Tasks:

  • Lead on the development of meaningful youth-friendly volunteering opportunities for young people; provide guidance and support to organisations interested in creating youth volunteering opportunities.
  • Build effective relationships and facilitate collaborations across a wide range of local and national organisations to support the development of supported and accessible volunteering opportunities
  • Develop regular networking opportunities for youth services and workers
  • Work closely with other Youth Leads to ensure meaningful involvement of young people in the development, design and delivery of programme activities and networking opportunities; Support and development of our ‘Make it Happen’ Youth Volunteering Team

Partnership and Policy Manager
Salary: £28,119
Hours: Full time (35 hours per week)

VAER has an exciting opportunity for a Partnership and Policy Manager to join our amazing team and lead its partnership and policy work as part of the Third Sector Interface role for East Renfrewshire.

The post holder will be responsible for VAER’s Third Sector Interface role in Community Planning, which seeks to facilitate effective Third Sector participation and representation across partnership and planning forums. Bringing excellent facilitative leadership approaches, you will support effective Third Sector partnerships and networks to develop and build the capacity of the third sector to lead positive change in their communities.

You will have good knowledge of public sector policy and the reform landscape in Scotland and of the issues and opportunities affecting the Third Sector. You will be able to bring forward a range of views with confidence and diplomacy and have experience of working with third sector in Community Planning environments.

Working as part of the senior management team of VAER, you will be supported by our Third Sector capacity, Volunteer Development, and wider community engagement staff team to develop a mature Third Sector Forum that will take a lead role in Policy development and Service Design in East Renfrewshire.
