The Market Place & Coffee Stop
The Market Place is a community space, cafe and shop used by local people, community groups and organisations.
Based in the town centre of Barrhead and at The Avenue Shopping Centre in Newton Mearns, The Market Place is a cafe, shop and community hub used by members of the public, community groups and organisations. The space provides safe place for people to find local information and get involved in their community. We have a number of clubs and meet-ups run by groups, volunteers and people who take part in them.
Relax at The Coffee Stop
The Coffee Stop provides a safe, comfortable space for people to enjoy a tea or coffee whilst catching up with friends or reading a book. We are fully accessible and offer tea, coffee and biscuits at affordable prices, making it an ideal place for carers, support workers and small community meet-ups. We also have gifts for sale, DVDs and a huge selection of books.
The Market Place is a 'Keep Safe' premises. The Keep Safe initiative works with a network of businesses who have agreed to make their premises a 'Keep Safe' place for people to go if they feel frightened, distressed or are a victim of crime when out in the community. The aim of the initiative is to ensure that vulnerable people can enjoy ordinary day to day life and activities free from the fear of abuse or intimidation.
Gather Together- Dream Together - Change Together
This space is a work in progress. We want the local communities to help us shape how to make best use of the space we have here at The Market Place.
Have you thought about setting up your own group or meet-up but not quite sure how to get started? Whether it's books, board games or basket weaving, we'll support you in getting it up and running and even help you to promote it.
