VAER are hosting a VA Academy with Sine Delahunt from the Health and Social Care Partnership (HSCP) on taking service users on walks.
Most health professionals agree walking is a fantastic exercise and a great way for people to increase physical activity. However organisations are often unwilling to take services users on walks because of perceived risks and hazards - most of which are unfounded.
But what if you had a trained walk leader volunteer in your organisation?
The Health and Social Care Partnership (HSCP) are offering an extensive range of training for organisations and their volunteers which includes: Walk Leader, Heart Start, Strength and Balance Exercise, Dementia Walk Leader and others provided by Paths for All.
The HSCP will also support volunteers to consider walking routes, risk assess routes and aid volunteers to advertise and promote their walks.
If this is of interest and if you'd like to learn more Sine will give more information what is involved and bust the myths surrounding concerns about going on walks.
This VA Academy will take place on 10th May 2017,12:30 - 2pm at Voluntary Action East Renfrewshire SCIO, 56 Kelburn Street, G78 1LR, Barrhead.
